What makes Korean BBQ so special? **Here everyone grills themselves!** In many Korean restaurants, small table grills are set up on which everyone grills their own meat - an absolute communal experience! These include:
- ✅ Bulgogi – tender marinated beef, sweet and spicy grilled
- ✅ Galbi – Korean short ribs with soy-garlic marinade
- ✅ Samgyeopsal – Grilled pork belly with dip & kimchi
🔥 3 original recipes for Korean BBQ
1. Bulgogi – sweet and spicy marinated beef
Ingredients for 4 people:
- 500 g thinly sliced beef (e.g. entrecôte or beef fillet)
- 1 pear or apple, grated
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 2 spring onions, finely chopped
Preparation:
- Mix all ingredients for the marinade in a bowl.
- Marinate the thinly sliced beef in it for at least 2 hours (preferably overnight).
- Preheat the grill to high heat.
- Sear the meat directly on the hot grill plate or pan for about 2 minutes per side.
- Garnish with sesame seeds & spring onions and serve hot.
2. Galbi – Korean Short Ribs
Ingredients for 4 people:
- 1 kg beef short ribs (Korean cut, thinly sliced)
- 4 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
- 1 pear, grated
- 1 tablespoon rice wine (Mirin)
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
Preparation:
- Mix all ingredients for the marinade and marinate the short ribs for at least 4 hours.
- Prepare the grill for medium-high heat.
- Grill the ribs directly over the coals until they get a nice crust (about 4 minutes per side).
- Serve with sesame seeds & spring onions.
3. Samgyeopsal – Grilled pork belly with dip
Ingredients for 4 people:
- 600 g pork belly, cut into thin slices
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
- Kimchi as a side dish
Preparation:
- Preheat the grill to high heat.
- Place the pork belly slices directly on the grill without marinade.
- Grill for about 2-3 minutes on each side until crispy.
- Serve with sesame oil, salt & pepper – traditionally with kimchi!
